1) Weapons: Algeria is Germany’s biggest weapons customer. In 2013 it bought equipment worth €825.7 million, including tank parts, SUVs and trucks. According to reports in June, German arms firm Rheinmetall also plans to build an arms factory in the country. But the trade goes beyond weapons. There are currently more than 220 German companies with a German workforce of over 2,000 in Algeria, according to the Foreign Office.
