Compared to those in neighbouring countries, people in Germany don’t get enough sleep and are overtired, sleep researchers announced on the Day of Sleep (June 21st).
Freshly retired Germans tend to sleep better than their working counterparts, a study released on Wednesday suggested. But as old age sets in, getting good-quality shut-eye becomes increasingly difficult.
The line between work and leisure time is becoming increasingly blurred, with the overwhelming majority of German employees now reachable by mobile phone and email outside of normal work hours, a survey has found.
