The world watched in horror as flames consumed one of its most revered places of worship - Paris' Notre-Dame Cathedral. It's a feeling that Germans have come to know over the centuries, with many of their most significant churches the victims of fire.
A leader of Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party on
Tuesday tried to link the devastating fire at Paris's Notre-Dame cathedral to
rising "intolerance" against Christians in Europe, although French
investigators believe the inferno was an accident.
As pictures emerged of the tragic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris engulfed in flames, people all over the world, including in neighbouring country Germany, spoke of their shock and sadness.
