Germany-based travellers are seeing a number of new direct flights in 2025, including from some of the country’s smaller airports like Friedrichshafen, Nuremberg, Memmingen and Münster.
Here are all the connections that have recently been added, and those planned to begin in the coming months.
Berlin
Berlin will see a handful of European connections added later this spring.
Eurowings will add flights to two destinations in Spain (Bilbao and Jerez De La Frontera) in April as well as to Newcastle in the UK in May.
For trans-Atlantic travellers, there are also two weekly flights to Toronto, Canada, operated by Air Transat, set to begin in June.
By the way, a special mention on changes should go to Moldova in eastern Europe. Travellers headed there from Germany will see their options significantly expanded this year as new budget airline Wizz Air Malta has added flights from a few German cities, including; Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Nuremberg and Memmingen.
Dortmund
Dortmund Airport is getting new daily connections to Turkey, with direct flights to Antalya from the end of March.
Sun Express airline will have daily flights departing at 2 pm, and then from mid-April, Pegasus will also begin operating flights to Antalya at various days and times.
Düsseldorf
Those departing from Düsseldorf can look forward to new connections to Genoa and Edinburgh this year, as The Local has previously reported. But additional routes have since been added.
From early April, Sun Express will offer a weekly direct flight from North Rhine-Westphalia’s busiest airport to Erzurum, Turkey.
Eurowings will then begin three weekly flights to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
Frankfurt
Weekly flights between Frankfurt and Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, have been launched by new airline Interjet.
Friedrichshafen
The lake-side city of Friedrichshafen (on the German side of Lake Constance in Baden-Württemberg) is getting two new European connections.
Easy Jet is operating flights direct to Belfast in Northern Ireland on Saturdays.
From the beginning of May, Norwegian Air will begin tri-weekly flights to Palma de Mallorca airport on the Spanish island.

Memmingen
Those living between Stuttgart and Munich are getting faster connections to Eastern Europe this year.
Hungarian budget operator Wizz Air has recently added multiple weekly connections to Budapest from Memmingen, in addition to its Moldova flight.
Starting mid-June, Norwegian Air will also offer a weekly flight to Bacau Romania.
Münster
Scuba diving enthusiasts and those seeking warmer beaches can take advantage of a new Swiss Air direct flight to Hurghada, Egypt on the Red Sea coast.
Munich
Germany’s second busiest airport will also see a few new direct flights added in the coming months.
Two weekly connections to Dubai have recently been added by new airline ZanAir.
In mid-February, Lufthansa will begin a weekly direct connection to London, with another to be added by TAB in May.
At the beginning of April, three weekly flights to Paris are being added.
And in June, Cathay Pacific will begin direct flights to Hong Kong, with Lufthansa adding daily flights there later in October.
Nuremberg
Norwegian Air is adding a number of new direct flights from Nuremberg to Mediterranean destinations (particularly in Greece) in the coming months.
Starting in mid-April, travellers from Nuremberg can fly direct to Heraklion and Rhodes, Greece.
In May, flights to the Greek islands of Corfu and Kos will be added, as well as to Olbia, Italy.
Then in August, there will also be flights to Kavala on offer.
Stuttgart
The capital of Baden-Württemberg is also getting better eastward connections.
Wizz Air is now connecting Stuttgart directly to Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania and Sofia, Bulgaria.
Then, from the end of May there will be several direct Turkey connections added. These include weekly flights to Edremit, Gulyali and Bursa.
