Police in Upper Bavaria have reported that the five-year-old escaped from his house on Thursday evening in order to take his pedal tractor to the petrol station.

A patrol in Ingolstadt stopped the young farmer's son at the edge of town at 9pm while he was pedalling his toy vehicle on the road. Upon the police enquiring as to what he was doing, the boy replied "Petrol station. Oil run out!"

After the necessary inspection of the vehicle and the child, officers escorted the boy back to his mother, who hadn't even realised that he had escaped.

The underage runaway supposedly climbed out of an open window in order to embark on his short-lived adventure.

One commentor on Facebook asked whether the boy got what he went out to get, to which the police replied: "Of course, the tractor runs as good as new!"
