A farmer in central Germany had a lucky escape on Monday - he'd been pinned under his tractor wheel for three days in freezing conditions before he was found.

A 61-year-old was walking with her dog when she heard the agriculturalist shouting from his field. In doing so she almost certainly saved his life.

The accident took place on Saturday in Waldeck, Hesse. One of the huge back tyres of the farm vehicle drove over the farmer's leg and pinned him to the ground.

After the lady found him, emergency services were able free the man and bring him to hospital.

Although the man was conscious it is still not clear how the accident happened.

“He must have a good constitution - it was under zero at night here,” a police spokesperson said.
