Heatwave to bring highs of 36C to Germany

Forecasters are anticipating a heatwave in Germany with temperatures of up to 36C coming to some parts of the country by the end of this week.

On Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise to 32C in the south-west, while the rest of Germany fluctuates between 24C and 30C, state weather service DWD forecast. 

On Friday, north-eastern Germany is slated to experience a heatwave with temperatures reaching 35C.

But along the coast and in the mountains, the weather will remain a much cooler at 22C to 28C. Strong winds are also expected to roar through the east and south-east.

Saturday will be met by the warmest temperatures, with western Germany, except the coastal regions and mountains, experiencing highs of between 29C and 36C.
