The woman crashed into two vehicles parked behind her in the car park in Erfurt, Thuringia, at around 4pm.

She then put her car in forward gear and hit two cars in front of her - an Audi A4 and Mercedes B-Class - which were badly damaged.

The woman, who was travelling with her husband, then put the car back into reverse and drove into a concrete pillar and another car, a Mercedes-Vito.

With five cars damaged, she appeared to panic, police said, and she tried to drive out of the multi-storey car park.

But on her journey out she brushed a wall and hit a bin, as well as scratching and hitting several other cars, the Thüringer Allgemeine newspaper reported.

Police said the woman caused between €50,000 and €70,000 worth of damage. Her driving licence has been confiscated.
