The police say the uncle disapproved of the relationship, and shot at the young man several times in the street. He ran after his victim, stabbing him several times before driving off in his car.

The fight happened at a crossing on the outskirts of the town, where police proceeded to block one of the roads.

The victim was able to give police information on the identity of his attacker before being taken to hospital, where he underwent an emergency operation.

The attacker is still on the loose and apparently armed with a gun and a knife. Police have launched a major hunt for him and are using a helicopter in the search.

Was this a attempted honour killing?

Can't u read? It's an uncle...

Other than the fact that the man was displeased with the relationship there really is not much information as to it being an attempted honor killing.

There was an article some months ago about a German father who invited his 17old daughter's 40 some year old boyfriend to his house only to have him and his buddies cut of his testicles,,oooochhhh.

You can not conclude this is the result of a non German decent person unless you have names.

I think I can see some sarcasm in DinhoPilot's posting. As if he were expecting a stream of xenophobic rants based on nothing (which is what the story provieds). It's a bit like yogurt in that it goes with just about anything you can imagine. LOTS of mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, brothers, and sisters don't care for sissy's new boy friend. A lot of her friends don't like him either.

So what can you read into this article? Zip Squat.

I see the sarcasm in DinhoPilot's comment too.

...Had the niece been attacked too we may have deduced more. Nothing can be said of Religion, Political Views, or Ethnicity based on the article.
