A prominent member of the Salafist scene, 35-year-old “Deso Dogg” whose real name is Mamadou C. but is known in Islamist circles as Abou Maleeq, had stashed 16 rounds of ammunition at his home in March 2010.

He had also recorded and posted on Youtube a video in which he loads a semi-automatic Glock pistol – for which he does not have a licence.

The Berlin state prosecutor spokesman Martin Steltner confirmed that charges were being made against the former rapper.

Mamadou C. has previous convictions on drug charges. As Abou Maleeq, he has repeatedly made the headlines for openly praising violent Jihad, or holy war, and has long been in the sights of German intelligence agencies.

Mamadou C. was born in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg. He was a successful rap artist until last November when he announced he was quitting music to become a preacher.

Kudos to the police for tightly controlling anti social folks like this.

A rapper, an islamist... c'mon if you're going to add info that is irrelevant to the "crime" you forgot to mention that he was black too!!

16 rounds of ammunition is hardly worth the headline and if he had the ammo since March 2010 then why did it take so long to arrest/charge him?

"Virtually unknown because free of success rapper" who turned islamist preacher would be the more appropriate headline. :-D

He is definitely "a person of interest" and will remain so for the foreseeable future with interpol and all other law enforcement agencies around the globe.

Yes indeed...Germany needs a "rapper"..."an Islamist preacher" to contribute to society in general...

being from Chicago...I'm pretty sure I could find a good place for this "homey" in beautiful South Chicago...he would last about 2 hours during daylight...

Rappers always seem to need a "piece" even after they make it on the music circles. Many like to sing about violence such as killing police and being a dumb a$$ed bad a$$. Guess they feel the need to be bad. In reality though, most of them (this chump included) end up screwing up a great money making career for the slammer. Seems like they never learn

In my opinion "rapping" has nothing to do with music and everything to do with simply being a motorrmouth. Talk about the lowest common denominator. Of course rappers know this and the whole game is about being a bad boy which is the way they get attention.

This guy was arrested for possession of 16 bullets and none of the Local's regular gun pushers are outraged? No one wants to commend this guy for his well-meaning if meager contribution to a truly free and well-defended, well-armed society?
09:41 April 19, 2011 by tallady
OkieinBerlin. I would assume from the lack of comments that you mentioned that this person is not considered a member of the common defense of a free society.

It's a bit of a non story isn't it. I mean he's not very well known and had only 16 bullets (wow!) It's not like he's Cat Stevens. I guess it just gives people a chance to bash rap along with the long list of everything else they dislike. Far too many Monty Burns on this site
11:13 April 19, 2011 by wenddiver
@Okie- Duh, I think they know Islamists are not trying to defend their Society. More likely an Islamist and a Rapper were carrying weapons, because they hate Germany. More than likely he is a good reason to own a gun, incase you need to shoot him or one of his buddies to defend Free Germany or your Family. Glad the Polezi were on the Job, hope he gets a Million years in Prison, socially worthless individual.
11:19 April 19, 2011 by fatherknowsbest
Only 16 chances to shoot somebody! Heck, they should give him an award. And of course we all know that rap is the pinnacle of high culture rather than a lower class street expression of criminal culture. Too many kneejerk pollyannas on this site posting without a clue.

I'd love to have a conversation with you on the things you do feel good about.

It might be pretty short though.

Shame really...
12:55 April 19, 2011 by fatherknowsbest
Well, just to start, I feel good about myself, good friends, good music, good food, a fulfilling career, a great family and being right most of the time. Its a blessing. Life is great isn't it? Except if you feel shortchanged by society and burden us all with the mindless verbal diarrhea of the disenfranchised.

On the other hand 50 cent and those guys make a fairly good living spouting gibberish and making it pay so why shouldn't Mr. Dogg also have his way with us. Or those of us who don't have the education or intelligence to tell the difference between art and Abfalle. At any rate this guy still has his jihad fantasies to fall back on. The downside is that unless these folks are strictly controlled those fantasies have a good chance of coming true.

The first part of your comment I couldn't agree more with.

But remember just because you don't like something, doesn't make it wrong. Just different. I hate pickles, but they seem to do alright in this country, and I certain wont bag on someone who eats them (like my wife)
13:17 April 19, 2011 by fatherknowsbest
Sure, there's a place for folks who prefer McDonald's to real food. Just as long as they keep quiet about it and don't become violent. :-)

Shocking isn't it? This is the courtesy of the multiculturalism that brought to you by the european liberal elites. But unfortunately we need more deranged people like these to wake up our senses...until then good luck with screw up german and european societies...can't say that they don't deserve it for their stupidity.
