"He was arrested in Warsaw and is suspected of being involved in illegally obtaining a (German) passport," a spokesman for German federal prosecution said, confirming a report in German magazine Der Spiegel. "It's now up to the Poles to decide if they are going to hand him over to Germany."

According to an article to be published Monday in Der Spiegel, the suspect identified as Uri Brodsky was arrested early June on arrival at Warsaw's airport on suspicions that he helped a member of the hit squad get a German passport in June 2009.

Mahmud al-Mabhuh, a founder of the military wing of the Islamist Hamas movement which controls Gaza, was found dead in his room in the Al Bustan Rotana hotel near Dubai airport on January 20.

Dubai police have released extensive surveillance camera footage they say shows the team of suspects from the hit squad they have linked to the Mossad. The Hamas man had been drugged and then suffocated.

Twelve British, six Irish, four French, one German and three Australian passports were used by 26 people believed linked to the murder, according to Dubai police. In many cases, the documents appeared either to have been faked or obtained illegally.

Story continues below…

The issue caused a diplomatic row in which the five countries whose passports were used called in Israeli envoys for talks.

He wont be punished for anything. I'd be surprised if he'd be prosecuted.

Oh my God! Are US and Israeli SPYs the only ones carrying fake papers and pretending to be something they are not????

Wow, that would explain a few Wars. I thought evertbody did this, I mean absolutely everybody. By this standard INTERPOL will have to arrest the entire country of Mexico, since they have millions of sets of fake US papers.

Going to have to keep an eye on those kids from MI-6, they said it was ok, everybody did it.

Another dead terrorist, he will not be missed.

Maybe the Germans want to give him a medal.
22:15 June 12, 2010 by swoki

We should let spies run the place then, huh? Who needs laws when you have spies? Makes things so much more simple; no need to file charges, make arrests, hold trials; we should let them go about killing whoever is a terrorist by their standards. I would feel so much safer.
22:37 June 12, 2010 by wenddiver
@Swoki- Funny how legalistic you guys can get when it comes to defending Terrorists. I guess for for some Germans old habits die hard. Where did they get together before killing 3,000 people on September 11??????? Why Germany of course.

Germany didn't have much trouble with Spies using the country then, did they. But the current German Government doesn't seem to have any problem doing the bidding of Terror Groups world Wide. Good to know old habits haven't died.

We all know there is a clandestine war between the forces of good and evil in the world and really why should Germany come down on the side of the only Democracy in the Middle-East.

Because the whole world is watching??? Have you changed??

Put Swoki down for being that kind of German, if that's the image you want for your Country. Swoki is in favor of letting the Iranian Terrorist group Hammas kill Jewish children daily with rockets rather than let them use a passport to stop the murder. You make my skin crawl.

@wenddiver - All the problems start when you start treating some people exceptionally above law because they are working for the cause "justified in ur eyes".

Dont forget who made these terrorists. Who supported them with money and weapons during russian war in Afghanistan and who let them be capable of gaining so much strenght. Where did taliban came from, why now so dangerous groups were allowed by USA, rather supported to be strenghtened there?

If supper powers stop their under cover activities.... all major problems will be solved.

Why the human rights champions have to create secret jails which are officialy always denied and keep people there to torture?

If you kidnap one person or kill one person extra judicially, you leave 10 persons convinced to be justified in their acts.

Did any body saw these suicide bombers and these huge terrorist acts before Iraq war?
01:39 June 13, 2010 by Jibzy
@wenddiver - The guy above me put you in your place quite right. I'd like to add further... ..So according to you..only Hamas is the terrorist and Israel..using white phosphorous on civilian population is not a terrorist.... the same Army whose own soldiers wanted to speak out against their attrocities ...the same country who just expands because of its "natural growth"...like a tumor.

If Hamas is a terrorist organization..then Israel is a terrorist state far worse than Hamas. Just an idea for you...Hamas's rockets, from the first to the most recent, have killed less people than Israeli forces killed on the Gaza Flotilla!!!!

@wenddiver- Are you saying that Germans had a part in 9/11?

And to the rest of you, I'm glad they took that turd out!

@ Wenddiver

"We all know there is a clandestine war between the forces of good and evil in the world . . .", are you sh#tting us, pass me whatever your smoking I want to be a 'good-guy' 'hero' too. I learned long ago that anybody willing to resort to arguments of 'good vs. evil' or those of conspiracy only do so because they lack reasonable explanations to support what they want to be true. Go get yourself some form of education and then feel free to contribute informed opinions, I'm really sick of you speaking out your #ss and making up sh#t on the fly. I'm all for civility, but lies make civility kind of a hard sell.

@ JohnnesKönig

Wenddiver rarely knows what he's talking about. He thinks Hamas and Al Qaede are the same thing.

I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to get simple points across people who view the current state of the world as a war between good and evil, but I'll give it another shot.

A state that keeps expanding because "it's on the Bible", a state that based its whole immigration law system on blatantly racist ideas (and that't the UN stating that Isreali immigration laws violate international human right treaties against racism), a state who keeps 1500000 people imprisoned in the Gaza strip, a state who murders unarmed people in international waters would be on the evil side of my view of the world.

Can you please enlighten me by sharing your sources regarding dead Jewish children? And while you're on it, could you also please try to find some information about dead Palestinian children? Do you have any bloody clue of what's happening down there? Hamas has messed up, big time. But so has the State of Isreal. Something needs done. But assasinating people is not it.

And, by the way, I'm not German. I'm not an "evil arab terrorist" either. I'm just a Greek dude that likes thinking before typing.

I love your sarcasm...

@johnneskoenig- Good question. In November 1998, Mohammed Atta the leader of the 911 plot formed the co-conspirators in Hamburg. It was called the Hamburg cell by their handlers. The initial flight training was done in Germany. Ramzi Binalshibh, Marwan Al-Shehhi, Saif Bahaji, Zakariga Essabar, Monnir El Motasedeq, Abdelghani Mzoudi and Zaid Jarrah all plotted, planned and trained from Germany for 911.

Contrast this with Germany's prior interaction with Terrorists. On 10-13-1977, four members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine highjacked German Lufthansa Flight 181 and flew to Dubai. Dubai refused to let German troops retake the plane on their territory. The plane flew onto Mogadishi, Somalia where our heroic Palestinians Shot the German Pilot , Captain Schuman and dumped his body out on the runway. They then preceded to poor the airplanes alcohol over the passengers (flamable) in preparation for blowing the plane. Under the orders of Chancellor Helut Schmidt, Col. Ulrich Wenger of Germany's renowned GSG-9, re-took the airplane, terminated the terrorists mission (killing the Palestinians) and saved the hostages.

Who were the countries that provided the training for Germany's GSG-9 upon formation, the Israeli Sayret Mat'kal and Britain's SAS.

Germany needs to get Terrorists and people supporting terrorists out of their country, before their civilians get hurt. I don't know if the current government has the will to do that.

@All-Yes, shotting at a missil hid in a town aimed at your town and uninteionally causing civian casualties is different than going on a mission with the intent to kill a bunch of un-involved civilians.
10:09 June 14, 2010 by Talonx
@ wenddiver

As long as you're spinning, I feel free to as well. Technically, there are no real civilians in Israel. Only service dodgers can really be considered civilians, everyone else is on reserve.

Aside from spin, when Israel cluster bombs or uses white phos. on a city, they are participating in willfull acts of murder.
11:45 June 14, 2010 by michael4096
I would like to see the reactions here if other countries started taking out those protected from justice by the americal government. How about a vietnamese hit squad getting William Calley or an indian group after Warren Anderson.
14:35 June 14, 2010 by wenddiver
@Talnox-Looked like a simple statement of history, but I guess to the left facts are always spin. The truth is the target was the head of the military wing of Hamas. He is the number one Commander directing attacks against civilians and other non-military targets in their country. He also had the ability to move the military hardware out of the Palestinian cites, but choose not to. Anything wrong with camoflaging it and putiing it in a field?? The Sabaro Pizza bombing comes to mind, the public bus bombing campaign is equally crazy/worthless. If the Palestinians want to be taken seriously as a nation they might want to fight the IDF and not a Pizza Place full of civilians eating or killing some German Lufthansa Pilot. One is military, one is nuts. Pretty dispicable.

Yeah yeah, the world is grey and not black and white.

Can we instead focus on the real issue here? Israeli Embassy workers (one of whom we have now caught), while on diplomatic passports, stole passport information from regular citizens in Germany (as well as the UK, Australia, etc etc), and used those innocent people's information to forge identities for Mossad agents to enter a foreign country and assassinate a terrorist. The crime here is not (IMHO) the assassination or who was assassinated, although it was most likely a violation of international law. The serious crime here is that Mossad agents endangered civilians lives. The UAE gave names of regular citizens in various countries as suspects in a crime. What if your identity was stolen in such a manner and all of a sudden your name was being tossed around in the (very serious) game of Israeli-Arab chess?

That really is inexcusable in any circumstances, and should be punished appropriately.
15:59 June 14, 2010 by Der Grenadier aus Aachen
The facts here are simple. Israel endangered ordinary civilians, and violated german sovereignty by falsely claiming an official document. Even worse, they did it by exploiting the weakest, most humane-oriented part of the chain - by claiming kinship of a holocaust survivor.
17:42 June 14, 2010 by michael4096
@Grenadier - surely the facts are irrelevant

the israelis are right - they have the nuclear weapons

even if they were not right, they are right - they have the proxy firepower of more than the rest of the world put together

might beats right
18:10 June 14, 2010 by mixxim
If the Germans find him guilty they will no doubt be accused of racism. In ten years time a film will be made of the Israeli heros and be acclaimed in the same way as the film, Munich. Britain, the USA and those not party to state terrorism will wring their hands and say nothing.
18:26 June 14, 2010 by Beachrider
Wow, you guys really all have your panties in a wad.

It is clear that Germany can prosecute the "Mossad agent" under German law. That is what the Poles agreed to do. If this person ends up showing a chain of command back to Israel (and I then remove the quotes), then Germany can see reparations from Israel. There is process for this.

This alleged perpetrator clearly has no justification breaking the laws of Germany or Poland, if he did that here. The attempts to link IDF and Hamas issues (or 9/11) is not sufficient to justify this stuff. Prosecutions should begin.

As to the complex story of Ramalla vs Gaza rule for Palistinian issues, that is for another day.
