Berlin police bust Vietnamese human trafficking ring
After months of investigation, Berlin police have conducted widespread raids to bust a Vietnamese human trafficking ring, authorities reported on Wednesday.
Some 24 apartments in Berlin, as well and four others in the outlying states of Brandenburg and Saxony were searched early on Wednesday morning, a spokesperson told news agency DDP. Most of the Berlin raids occurred in the eastern districts of Lichtenberg and Friedrichshain.
The raids were the result of a five-month investigation of some 30 suspects based in Berlin, who authorities believe have been smuggling Vietnamese people through France and England. Police made 15 arrests.
