Navy frigate sets off to help US mission near Africa

German military frigate Mecklenburg-Vorpommern left harbor on Monday on its way to Northeast Africa to help the US mission “Enduring Freedom.”
The ship carrying German military forces left from Wilhelmshaven to begin a six month deployment to help the US mission against terrorism in the region. The boat will stand guard off the coast of the Horn of Africa, the German Marines reported from Glücksburg.
In January the craft, built to chase U-boats, will become the lead ship at the head of the security fleet in the area.
