Blood-curdling screams of pain caused concerned neighbors to call police late on Thursday night in Tuttlingen, but the emergency turned out to be a high-decibel slasher film.

After the emergency call from the neighbors came in, police from the German state of Baden-Württemberg found a television set to top volume playing a horror film.

The apartment windows were wide open, which the residents said they had done because of the late-summer heat. But their open windows meant neighbors could hear every bit of their bloody film.

The horror fans promised police they would be more considerate of their neighbors in the future.
