German Formula One world record holder, Michael Schumacher, qualified in 23rd place at the International German Superbike Championships on Saturday.

The qualifying races took place at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

With a finishing time of 1:47978 minutes, the 39-year-old German raced his 190 horse-powered Honda motorbike for the Holzhauser-team, completing the track just six seconds behind the fastest biker - Kai-Borre Andersen of Norway (MV Agusta).

Despite a downpour of rain, Schumacher raced 14 rounds of the Oschersleben track to secure his qualifying position.

A total of 39 riders from 12 nations participated in the training round of the Superbike championships on Saturday, in the hope of zooming in to qualify.
