A bomb threat in Koblenz against a German train activated a large scale police operation and closed the train station on Thursday night.

The threat against German state railway operator Deutsche Bahn's ICE 856 from Berlin to Trier came just after 9 pm, police from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate said.

The ICE train made the next scheduled stop in Koblenz and passengers were evacuated immediately as police searched the train. No suspicious objects were discovered in the search.

The train station was closed for about one hour.
