James heads up our European editorial team. Originally from Lincolnshire, England, he moved to Sweden in 2003 where he met Paul Rapacioli and they started The Local. He has also lived in London and Paris.

James moved to Germany from the UK in 1998. He founded Toytown Germany in 2002 before joining forces with The Local in 2009.

Tara Sonnorp
Operations Manager

Originally from Brighton UK, Tara worked for many years as a management consultant in London. She has lived and worked in France, Germany, and Norway before moving to Stockholm in 2005.

David Landes

Originally from St. Paul in Minnesota, Sweden Country Editor David Landes first moved to Stockholm in 1999. He has also spent one year studying in Bologna, Italy and five years living in Washington, DC. He has worked for The Local since 2008.

Anna Agebjörn-McFarlane
Senior Key Account Manager - UK / Sweden

Anna Agebjörn originally harks from the county of Småland in Sweden, but after a 12-year stint in Glasgow and London she claims to feel more British than Swedish. She is now back on Swedish soil and works with advertisers in Sweden and the UK.

Paul O'Mahony

Paul O'Mahony came to Sweden in 1999 and has been at The Local since 2006. Originally from Kilkenny, Ireland, Paul has also lived in Germany and France. He is now playing a key role in taking The Local into new markets.

Sophie Inge
Assistant Editor - @sophie_inge

Assistant Editor Sophie Inge is originally from London, but moved to Stockholm to join our editorial team in early 2013. She's also studied in Oxford and Paris and worked for a year in Rome. She works on reporting and editing across all The Local's sites.

Emma Anderson

Emma moved to Germany from San Francisco after participating in a Fulbright program for American journalists in Berlin. Before joining The Local in 2015, she reported for Reuters and NPR. She works on reporting and editing across all The Local's sites.

Oliver is a Brit who has been living in Sweden since 2013. With a background in digital marketing and e-commerce, he is responsible for our various digital services.

Solveig Rundqvist

Growing up with a fascination for her Swedish heritage, Solveig 'reverse-migrated' from her home in Utah in 2013. Now a proud Stockholmer, Solveig is responsible for producing sponsored content across The Local's network.

Zenia Saldanha

Zenia, who grew up in Mumbai and Goa, came to Sweden in 2007 and has managed advertising delivery across all our sites since 2012.

Originally from Cambridge, Tom left London for Paris in 2013 before heading back to his first European love, Berlin. He's worked in print, broadcast and online journalism and even spent a brief spell as a diplomat.

Jörg Luyken

Born in Scotland to a German father and British mother, Jörg has worked as a journalist in Israel and Egypt, where he wrote for the Jerusalem Post, Ha'aretz and Die Zeit. Jörg moved to Germany in 2013 and started working for the Local in March 2014. He is covering all aspects of German politics and society.

Liz worked in media sales in London and Bath for many years. She has also lived in South Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia. Now settled in Berlin, Liz is Key Account Manager with The Local.

Formerly Madrid correspondent for The Daily Telegraph Fiona has lived in Spain for eight years covering all manner of issues across the Iberian peninsula. Originally from Buckinghamshire, UK, she has reported from across Europe with the occasional assignment taking her to the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.

Originally from Teesside in the UK, Jessica joined The Local in December 2014 and reports on Spanish news from our office in Madrid. She has written for El País in English and The Santiago Times, reporting on stories from throughout Spain and Latin America. She worked in France, Chile and Germany before coming to Spain.

Oliver Gee covers French news from our Paris office. Originally from Perth, Australia, he worked in Auckland, London and the Swedish town of Uppsala before starting at The Local Sweden in 2012. He moved over to our French site in January 2015.

Angela was previously at dealReporter, part of the Financial Times Group, in London. In June 2013 she joined The Local to become our Country Editor in Italy, based in our office in Rome.

Rosie moved to The Local's Rome office in June 2013 after working for a year with the European University Institute in Florence. She has previously freelanced for The Times and The Independent foreign desks.

Former BBC News journalist Maddy Savage joined The Local in September 2014. Working across TV, radio and online, Maddy has reported from more than a dozen European countries over the past decade. Originally from Hertfordshire in England, she developed a passion for Sweden following an assignment to Gothenburg in 2006. She has previously lived in France, Belgium and Madagascar.

Paul Gillingwater joined The Local Austria team in 2014. Originally hailing from New Zealand, Paul previously worked as a TV journalist for Press TV, and has contributed articles to The Vienna Review and other journals. He's also a filmmaker and TV documentary producer.

Rosie Waites

Originally from the UK, Rosie lived in Vienna for four years after studying in Oxford. She worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation before leaving to work in London for the BBC and after ten years she is pleased to be back in Austria.

Romana Lakinger

After extensive travels to the USA, India and all over Europe, Romana lived in London to study and work. She returned to Vienna in 2011 and joined The Local in 2014.
