Baby ducks shut down Autobahn traffic
Police officers and a fire fighter crane were called in to rescue five orphaned baby ducks on Friday, stopping autobahn traffic briefly to escort them to safety.
An autobahn driver near Kiel in northern Germany called police for help after she noticed that the ducks' mother was dead and the babies had fled to the median, the Hamburger Morgenpost reported.
Police shut down traffic on the A215 roadway in both directions for a short period, also bringing in a firefighters' crane to help bring the ducklings to an animal shelter.
Just the day before, a truck pulling a broken fighter jet also shut down traffic on the autobahn because the plane was so wide that it blocked cars across three lanes from overtaking it.
