Germany's 17 Olympic gold medals in pictures
After a dreadful start to the competition, Germany's athletes finally pulled off a comeback to make the Bundesrepublik proud. Compared to London 2012, Germany climbed up to fifth in this year's Olympic medal table with 17 golds, thus upping last tournament's gold medal haul by six.
Sebastian Brendel repeated his success at the London games by winning the Men's Canoe Single 1000m race. He went on to take another gold along with his partner Jan Vandrey in the Double's competition.
Max Rendschmidt and Marcus Gross also got to celebrate twice, winning the Men's Kayak Double 1000m and the equivalent Kayak Four along with Tom Liebscher and Max Hoff.
