According to a survey by Emnid, social or fiscal policy is the number one concern for 80 percent of Germans when deciding which party to vote for - and ex-pats are no exception. Whereas the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Free Democratic Party (FDP) oppose higher taxation on wealth or inheritance; the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Greens want to see the introduction of an inheritance tax. The FDP has also pledged to reduce taxation on electricity.
