Nine of Germany's top 'Powerfrauen'
Wednesday March 8th is International Women's Day - and Germany has more than its fair share of "Powerfrauen" to celebrate. We've compiled a list of nine of the most renowned women to get you in the mood.
Angelique Kerber is Germany's top tennis player and she is making quite the name for herself. The 29-year-old became the oldest woman ever to first reach the ranking of world No. 1 in September 2016, after winning the Australian and US Opens in the same year. In the final of the 2016 Australian Open, Kerber beat tennis legend Serena Williams in three sets and secured the first Grand Slam title for a German woman since Steffi Graf in 1999.
