One person has died and four more were injured in a shooting in the central Berlin borough of Kreuzberg on Friday evening.

The shooting took place outside a Turkish comedy show at the Tempodrom, a concert venue with a 3,500-seat capacity.

German media reports that the deceased man was 42 years of age, while some of those injured are believed to be in a serious condition.

Police have said they suspect the involvement of several people, although the shooter or shooters fled the scene. An investigation is underway, although a spokesperson said on Saturday morning that there “is no further information” about the incident.

A total of 200 officers were deployed on scene after the shooting. People attending the show were required to leave through back and side doors.

The attendees were there to see the Güldür Güldür Show, a Turkish comedy show which is described on the Tempodrom website as a ‘television classic’.
