Avalanche in Germany leaves one dead and another missing
One person was killed and another went missing in an avalanche in the southern German state of Bavaria close to the Austrian border, police said Saturday.
The avalanche hit on Saturday afternoon at an altitude of 1,300 metres on the Schuetzensteig mountain, located a few kilometres away from the Austrian Tyrol region.
A third person was rescued with serious injuries after some 70 rescue workers combed the area for possible victims, police said, adding that the search had been halted at nightfall.
No further information has so far been released regarding the victims.
