Wig thieves make away with 600 different disguises
A band of robbers broke into a wig store in western Germany on Saturday night - and left every mannequin in the place looking embarrassingly bald on top.
Police were alerted to the break-in on Saturday morning, but by then it was too late. The thieves had made away with wigs in the display area, wigs in the changing area, in the office and in the cellar.
There wasn’t a hirsute head left in the building once they were done - the burglars made off with a total of 600 wigs.
The burglary was one of three break-ins over the weekend in the town of 150,000 near Düsseldorf, police report.
On Friday crooks broke into a local ice rink, making away with cash from three safes.
And on Saturday two men were trying to break into a doctor’s surgery when a local resident spotted them and they took flight.
Police describe the men as between 20 and 30 years old, 170 cm tall, of normal stature and with short black hair.
Law enforcement are calling for witnesses. They don’t make clear whether the public should expect them to have acquired fashionable new hairdos overnight.
