Firefighters free child from washing machine

An eight-year-old girl had to be prised out of a washing machine using washing-up liquid by Munich firefighters on Monday evening.

The Abendzeitung reported that the girl had climbed into the appliance for unknown reasons and couldn't get herself out again.

Stuck in the machine from her feet to her belly button, the child was in something of a lather by the time the firefighters arrived.

They struck on the idea of a liberal application of detergent to help the girl squeeze out of the tight spot.

She was unhurt and stayed at home after being freed – with the promise that she wouldn't do it again.
