No tuition fees, more courses in English and yearly rises up global rankings - German universities are a great place for international students. But which subjects are they best at?
The Local List has delved through the world's most recent two leading university rankings - the QS and Times Higher Education - as well as looked at Nobel prize winners and inventors to help decided which fields are best to study at German universities.
By bringing together all these factors, we've come up with eight subjects which German institutions are clearly among the best in the world in.
