Nobody has reached more World Cup finals than Germany and Brazil, the two footballing giants of their respective continents. But their joint history, relations and links go far beyond meeting on the pitch on Tuesday.

On opposite sides of the globe, the links between Germany and Brazil (apart from football) may not seem obvious at first.

But the two countries share a joint past which spans 19th Century immigration, Nazis and the German language.

The biggest beer festival outside of Munich is held in southern Brazil and one of the most famous vehicles ever made by Germany was still being produced in the South American country late last year. Find out what links the two countries here
