Police in Lower Saxony were left in awe of a three-year-old girl’s “stuntman-like” skills on Thursday after she clung onto the outside of a van for 18 kilometres, travelling at speeds of up to 80 km/h.

The girl's 61-year-old grandfather told police that he had been playing with the girl before setting off from the village of Delliehausen as part of his job as a deliveryman.

He hadn't noticed that the girl had climbed onto the running board on the side of the van and clung to the door handle.

Pedestrians saw the child clinging onto the Mercedes Sprinter van but were unable to alert the driver - so they called police, who contacted the head of the delivery firm.

Police said on Friday the girl was “well and happy” after the journey and compared her feat to a “stuntman”.
