Gas blasts to polar bears - seven days in pics

The past seven days have produced some rather varying images. The Local has run through some of the best.

The week began with a house exploding in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Hoslstein. Four people were killed and many others injured. A memorial was held in the town later that week and was attended by hundreds of people.

Bayern's now former boss Uli Hoeneß faced the cameras on Thursday as he exited court following the judge's decision to send him to prison for three years and six months.

Chancellor Angela Merkel gave an important address in the Bundestag on Thursday, concerning the situation in Crimea. The peninsula will be holding a referendum on joining Russia on March 16th.

More lighthearted images came from a baby polar bear, playing in public for the first time at Bremerhaven Zoo.
