Storm warning as winter pauses with 11C high
The unsettled weather affecting other areas of Europe could be on its way to Germany, with forecasters warning of rising temperatures and accompanying storms.
While Austria and Slovenia have been hit by heavy snow, Italy and the UK have seen heavy flooding.
In Germany, forecasters DWD are predicting highs of 11C in the west – just two weeks ago the east of the country was freezing with lows of -20C.
“While winter hardly arrived for the west and southwest, it is now going for the rest of the country,” DWD said.

Temperatures in most of Germany are not expected to drop below freezing all week, forecasters said, as warm air continues to blow in.
On Thursday and Friday temperatures will be between 5C and 11C and it will get windy particularly in hilly areas. “It might be stormy this weekend,” DWD warned.
“Winter’s return is not on the horizon,” the forecasters added. "But one should not declare it over too early. February is long and the winter has been a guest in March over the last few years."
