The Local's selection of the week's best news pictures includes a VW camper van, funeral urns, striking Amazon workers and a flinging Father Christmas.

It was good news for supporters of dual citizenship as Ayadan Ozoguz became the first minister with Turkish roots – our gallery shows her in action as she gets to grips with her new role as state secretary for migration.

News was not so good for fans of German carmaker Volkswagen's camper van as they saw the last of the iconic model roll of the production line in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil.

And while Germany can be happy that temperatures will remain fairly mild over the festive period, it means there will be no white Christmas for snow lovers – our photos of the week show Santa Claus throwing caution (and a Christmas tree) to the expected wind.
