Whether an ice cream expert, a fan of open-air techno or simply partial to bathing in the nip, the chances are a German summer will provide you with the chance to shine. This week's Local List runs through 10 Teutonic perks of the season.

After a gruelling six-month winter, Germans are more than ready for a little summertime fun. As the barbecues come out, the clothes come off and the beer goes in.

And what better to work off all that steak and Pilsner than with an evening bike-ride, followed by a boogie at an impromptu party in the park?
