20,000 Goths gather in Leipzig

More than 20,000 Goths from all over the world gathered in Leipzig in eastern Germany over the Whitsun weekend to celebrate all things dark and Gothic.
This year's annual 4-day WGT (Wave Goth Treffen) festival featuring 218 bands, films and guided tours attracted 20,000 visitors from as far afield as South Africa, Australia, Mexico, Russia and Japan, said organisers on their website.
Members of the Goth subculture - usually identified by dyed black hair, heavy dark make-up and black, period-style clothing - were treated to bright sunshine in the agra-Messepark in southern Leipzig over the weekend.
Visitors came not only wearing dark outfits but also meticulously-planned brightly coloured costumes.
