New in theaters this week, Star Trek Into Darkness, J. J. Abrams’ follow-up to his 2009 Star Trek blockbuster. The twelfth film in the Star Trek series and the first in 3D, Into Darkness brings back most of the cast and crew of the 2009 movie, including Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock and Michael Giacchino composing an original score. A riveting sci-fi action adventure, it’s chock full of the same rousing effects, solid performances and strong cinematography that made Abrams’ last film so successful.
