The 20-year-old midfielder, who will join Bayern in July, is now in a race against time to be fit for the Champions League final.

The star pulled up with the injury after just 14 minutes of Dortmund's 2-0 defeat at Real on Tuesday as Borussia reached the European final at Wembley on May 25 having won the semi-final 4-3 on aggregate.

Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp confirmed that Götze has torn the ligament and is set to miss Saturday's league match against his future club, who have already been confirmed as this season's Bundesliga champions with Dortmund second in the table.

"It is going to be close for him for all the games we have left," said Klopp with Dortmund facing Munich, Wolfsburg and then Hoffenheim in the league before the Champions League final on May 25.
