New in German cinemas this week: 'Oblivion'

Find movies playing in English in Germany with The Local’s cinema guide.
This week in theaters, Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman join forces in Oblivion, a sci-fi drama. A spectacular 21st century homage to science fiction films of the 1970s, Oblivion tells the story of former Marine commander Jack Harper (Cruise), one of the last remaining drone mechanics stationed on Earth. Sixty years ago, the planet was evacuated after aliens invaded – or so, at least, Commander Harper’s been told. But when the mysterious Malcolm Beech (Freeman) shows up, Harper is forced to question everything he knows about Earth, the invasion and its aftermath.
