At least 120,000 gay and lesbian Hamburgers flocked to the Christopher Street Day parade on Saturday, with hundreds of thousands more taking part in the three-day pride festival.

The 32nd Hamburg CSD festival was held under the slogan “Marriage 2.0 – after the duties, now the rights” – calling for final and complete equality for same-sex marriages.

Chairman of the Hamburg Pride association Lars Peters said particularly adoption and tax laws urgently needed to be revised to make them fair for homosexuals.

The number of people taking part in Saturday’s parade was more than organisers had hoped for, with some saying it was 20 percent up on last year. It was estimated that 300,000 people attended the festival.
