The 14th European Football Championship kicks off on Friday, and to get you in the mood, this week’s Local List takes a look back at Germany’s fortunes at the tournament over the years.

The Local has pulled on its white-and-black replica shirt, painted little flags on its cheeks, dusted off its Panini sticker albums and come up with a selection of eight of the Nationalelf‘s most iconic Euro moments.

Germany may be the tournament’s most successful side, having lifted the Henri Delaunay trophy three times, but that hardly tells the story of a rollercoaster Euro history that includes memorable highs, humiliating lows, net-busting goals, grown-man tears, bubble perms and of course, penalties.

So let The Local be your guide through Allofs the best moments from previous editions and whet your appetite for Vogts to come in Poland and Ukraine.
