While Germany produces handfuls of hunky male models, we decided to choose men with a certain je ne sais quoi – not just a pretty face (although good cheekbones helped).

So from footballers to businessmen and silver foxes to the baby-faced, we at The Local took a while to decide who made the final cut but in the end came up with a mix we hope you’ll enjoy.

Flick through the list, see whether you agree with our choices and feel free to add your own sexiest men below.

I know Iam not there so why would I want to look through the list or add my choice.

sort of the same mentality when people say why would I go to his or her funeral, they are not coming to mine.

Lots of german women think sexy and german men are mutually exclusive terms.

WT.........F? Wowie? What are they smoking down at the Local offices? I havent even gotten past that head shaker...

You keep using the word "sexy"... I don't think it means what you think it means.

Any half decent list of hot German men would include Til Schweiger, Till Lindemann, Paul Landers, Christoph Schneider, Richard Kruspe and Dero Goi. And that's just for starters.

I saw the lede and braced myself to see the token (randomly-chosen) "darkie" in the group.... only to find that you haven't even bothered to include anyone more farbig than a very weak milchkaffee!

I was on the U-Bahn for roughly 30 minutes today and saw enough olive, dark brown, and black, skin, to make your selection process seem highly suspect. *No* German men of color worth noting? No 'Mischlinge' out there? Surely some non-Norwegian could have taken Campino's place, at the very least? (though, in all fairness, that Campino fella should get a "most creative way of hiding your wattles" award for the picture of his you use).

Have you all gone blind or merely *native*?

Are there and German men "of color"? The germans are a fair skinned race.

Hmmmm. I don't see my name on the list.

@DickShawnsDiction: Which U-Bahn station have you been at? It is a fascinating fact that a high percentage of the train station loiterers of non-light-colored skin are ethnic Africans, many of which do not hold German citizenship and are selling drugs there. The Initiative Schwarzer Menschen in Deutschland (ISD) estimates (!) the number of "Afrodeutsche" (German passport holders) at a generous egocentric 500,000. Among the number of the (mostly) autochthonous citizens of officially 81,799,600 (2010), this would make a percentage of 0,6112499327625074 %. As there are 10 pictures shown, not even one full person would be eligible to be in one of the pictures.

The last 3 were good choices.

@boopsie: "German" is a nationality, not a race; it isn't 1933 still, now, is it?

@(ahem) bugger: it's not a question of proportional representation for an "article" of this nature. The point is that there are readers (even German ones) of all genders who find German males with some (or rather more) color "sexy", too. Surely, out of the half million you cite (with what would appear to be a Blimpish sneer), there are one or two plausibly attractive males? Unless the point is straying not too terribly far from the Aryan "ideal".

"It is a fascinating fact that a high percentage of the train station loiterers of non-light-colored skin are ethnic Africans"

I'd say you're being rather too obvious there, chum.
