And while the list may read a little like the cast list for Quentin Tarantino’s Nazi epic "Inglourious Basterds," we’ve not forgotten the stars that helped shape Germany’s vibrant cinema scene into what it is today.

Franka Potente should be included on all lists of Germany's best actors. (twitter@paul_stocks)

More than half of those folks on the list we can't see them hobnobbing around the city because they are dead. My nomination is Daniel Krauss, the German twin of Toby McGuire.

What about Vicco von Bülow and Armin Mueller-Stahl?

No Bruno Ganz??????

CrisRea pointed out two important omissions on this list. Vicco von Buelow (Loriot) was a comedic genius. Armin Mueller-Stahl has done brilliant work in his career and has been recognized with a lifetime Goldene Kamera award. Also, if Austrians are being slipped in, Senta Berger was and remains not only a great beauty, she is a consistently wonderful actress whose nuanced performances show her mastery of her art.

That list is awful. You weren't great if they dubbed your voice. Franka Potente has starred in both English and German films, including the most mainstream German movie to make it to the States in some time (Lola Rennt). And seriously, it's not a movie if Moritz Bleibtreu isn't in it. He is amazing in so many movies, Lammbock, Lola Rennt, Das Experiment, Young Goethe in Love, Baader Meinhof Complex.

As a follow-up to my earlier post: All of the actors mentioned above are very talented. However, with all due respect they are not in the same league with Franka Potente. Ms. Potente has a long and distinquished international film and television career. Her range of roles is diverse. I have viewed some of her interviews and she is highly intelligent, has depth and a comittment and passion for her craft. Additionally, she is a talented writer, singer and director. Truly a classy person. Ms. Potente deserves to be on all lists of best performers.

Klaus Kinski, when directed by Werner Herzog, was an actor with few peers. Although many people select Nosferatu as his greatest performance, I much prefer Aguirre: Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo. I can watch these movies over and over.

For the Senta Berger fans: Ms. Berger is a beautiful and quality actress. Two of my favorite films of hers are: "The Quiller Memorandum" (1966) and "Magnificent Thief" (pilot for the U.S. tv series "It Takes a Thief," 1968.) You can find them both on youtube. I recommend "Quiller." It's a very good espionage drama.

Diane Kruger? Really? Is this about famous German actors or

Good German actors?

If its the latter then Nina Hoss should be there.

As a follow-up to my earlier Senta Berger post: Another good performance by Senta Berger is in the film "Major Dundee" (1965). Ms. Berger is a very successful and popular actress, especially in the 1960's. I hope you enjoy "Major Dundee," Magnificent Thief" and "The Quiller Memorandum."
