The Berlin Zoo said in a statement that a preliminary necropsy conducted Monday revealed "significant changes to the brain, which could be seen as the reason for the sudden death of the polar bear."

It said no other organ damage had been identified but that the examination was continuing.

Knut was found lifeless in the pool in his enclosure on Saturday afternoon. An amateur video showing Knut's final moments has been posted to the internet. After walking in repetitive circles for some time, he seems to have a seizure before collapsing into the water in his enclosure.

The video could be disturbing to some people.

Knut shot to fame as a cuddly cub after being abandoned by his mother and reared by hand.

Devastated fans have been leaving flower bouquets, written tributes and photos of Knut at his former den at the zoo, while an online condolence book has drawn more than 4,000 messages.

Meanwhile, a fan organisation started collecting donations for a memorial to the bear.

Story continues below…

"Knut will live on in the hearts of many visitors but we want to create something lasting for generations to come with this memorial so that the uniqueness of this animal personality will endure," the chairman of the Friends of the Capital Zoo, Thomas Ziolko, said.

I demand that a Commision to look into this very suspicious death!

the Knut Truth Movement is just getting started. knut-truth.org will be up soon. It is impossible for a bear to die of a Brain Disorder! Brain Disorders would never want to do anything to a Polar Bear. In fact, the poor Brain Disorder, really.

Did you know that tribal elders told all Eskimo not to go to the Zoo on Saturday?!

It's sad that he died. But, Mother nature is cruel & cold. If an animal is a runt or has a disability their life is usually much shorter than Knut's was. We humans always seem to try and ascribe human emotions into animals. Truth is, They only think as far as their next meal or mating.

And I'm sure that DerEx is correct. Their will be an investigation and then a mandate made by the government ordering mother nature to be kind to all the sick animals. Of course mother nature will respond by showing us the middle finger.

Look folks,

There is no "smoking gun" or "conspiracy theory" here. The bear was born with problems making his (and twin brother) unlikely to survive. His mother sensed this and at their birth moved; on concentrating on survival.

Humans intervened and tried to "humanize" an animal that has no concept of our feelings, emotions or sensationalism.

He died because he was genetically inferior. That is how nature works...get over it and move on. That is what animals do. Get over it and move on. Don't dig into it and try to reason or hang zoo directors.

Either you people who want to start Truth-Knut.org are "whackos" or have no life worth living...your kind are sick in the head.

The bear is better off than you are.

Including my rip mother, I know very few Germans and an alarming number have brain abnormalities bestowed upon them somehow. Is there another story here?
23:38 March 22, 2011 by BR549

I did. My statement still stands. Try looking into context, not literal translation. So, go p#ss off!

Yes, it is sad that Knut died, but look this way at it, in nature he would have died when his brother did, as soon as their mamma rejected them. She, I am certain, rejected them because she did know something wasn't right. At least Knut had four years to live, that's much more than his brother had. When I first heard of his walking in circles, I thought stroke or aneurysm, then saw video and still think so. Poor little Knut was just born with a weakness I think, but with love and care, he gave pleasure to many for four borrowed years.

I am not sure about this, but that looks alot like a seizure. The turning round in circles and the leg...And then his head jerking back before he fell in the water...All signs of a seizure. And I am pretty sure that even if he did have a Brain Disorder he would have lived if he hadn't have fell in to the water. Because of the jerking and the muscle rigidity he probably couldn't get out of the water before he drowned...

But then again I wasn't there and I don't know the whole story, yet.

BR549 if you were responding to the comments made by poster #2, relax. He was obviously being sarcastic and not really trying to start a polar bear conspiracy orgnization. He was trying to be funny and you swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

Dateline Berlin- Knut the Polar Bear died after a long nights parting with long time friends Charlie Sheen, Keith Richards, Ozzy Ozborne, David Hasselhof and Mel Gibson.

Knut was living with three female bears he called his "Polar Godesses" and died in their company by his personal pool. Recently he had talked about getting out of show business and had formed his own Mixed Martial Arts team and was going to compete them on Ultimate Fight Club (UFC), saying " Hey, I don't know what your drinking, but we are Bears, we can throw a Seal in the air and tear it in half, so where you studied Jiu-Jitsu isn't going to be that important come fight night"

Knut is survived by his Mother, whose team of Attorneys have moved to secure his vast estate. Mother Knut said "You can't imagine how close we were, I am signing a book andmovie deal to tell our amazing Mother/Son story.

Knut's bussiness partner Charlie Sheen said We are all shocked and amazed at Tigerblood Energy Drinks and Murdered Seal snacks. It seems like just yesterday that were were out biting Seal heads off and partying by the pool in Las Vegas.

@derexdeutscher-The Government alleges that Seal Snacks are fattening, due to trans fats. Knut's Company announced a sale on t-shirts with Knut in his private Lagoon with the polar godesses and the phrase "Duh, Winning".

Mother Knut's Attorney Levi Goldberg announced that although he would show a deposition from the Mother saying that he had told her that he wanted her to inherit everything, because he was afraid money would ruin the Polar Goddesses. Mother Knut was in Morning at her Hollywood mansion with her long time companion Fabio.

Chalie Sheen has filed an injuction in the US Cort for the 9th judicial District to have an autopsy done on Knut and that he then be burried at Graceland with Elvis.

Mother Knut's Attorney has made a motion that he be burried without autopsy.
