"The animal was thought to be completely docile. Some members of the team even stroked him before," a spokeswoman for ndF said on Wednesday after the deadly incident outside the former German colony's capital Windhoek last Friday.

The 46-year-old victim, who has not been named, was part of a team preparing an episode of Um Himmels Willen, or "For Heaven's Sake", a light-hearted and long-running series set in and around a Bavarian nunnery.

"He completely unexpectedly went for her throat," Ulf Tubbesing, a Namibian-German television veterinarian who owned the farm where the tragedy took place, told German daily Bild.

"I immediately ordered my farm manager to shoot the animal."

Story continues below…

The woman died of her wounds at the scene.

Basically all animinals of the wild are just that "Wild"...when will people understand this. It is a shame that life is snapped up so often by similar events.

Unfortunately the indigenous leopard had to make the ultimate sacrifice because of the foolishness of the foreign invaders. Everyone knows a leopard can't change it's spots!

Unfortunate - but why kill the leopard? It did what it is meant to do!! Say away from wild animals. If you go patting wild pussy cats, expect to be looked on as a meal. But don't go killing leopards for being leopards...

These people are foolish people. They won´t face their own business. All they do is go to Africa and try to control things there. Stay in your countries and make animal reserves there and leave Africa alone. They should be jailed by shooting the leopard. Animals are better then they are.

A wild animal is unpredictable!!

When are humans going to realize that a wild creatures are WILD! From birth, they come with built-in instincts and reactions that will not change. Whether bottle raised by a human "nanny" or fed by it's natural mother, the animal will still be wild. The main difference is that human-raised creatures do not have a fear of man, because of this, they are more dangerous. Another point is that leopards are notorious for being the most difficult of all big cats to handle. So much so, that most trainers for film and video will clear the sets for the cat's working time. I blame this tragedy on the cat's handler for criminal negligence and total disregard of the crew's welfare. The leopard was just being a leopard and the humans took revenge on the cat for their own stupidity.
