Police catch pair of 12-year-old girls driving in pyjamas
A pair of 12-year-old girls have been caught out for a late-night joyride in their pyjamas, police in northern Germany reported Monday.
The underage driver originally caught the attention of police in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Neustadt, near Lübeck, with her erratic driving.
“At about 1:45 am Monday morning police noticed a Kia sedan weaving through the street and braking intermittently,” Lübeck police spokesman Stefan Muhtz said in a statement. “The officers decided to pull the car over, reckoning it was a drunk driver. This was not the case.”
Instead police found a 12-year-old girl clad only her pyjamas and a jacket behind the wheel, with her half-sister of the same age sitting in the back seat.
The girl driving told the officers that she “only” wanted to take the car for a jaunt to the nearby neighbourhood of Altenkrempe.
Officers brought the girls home to their perplexed mother, who had slept through their mischief.
