Motorbike riders given licence plate break

Germany’s 3.8 million motorbike riders had cause to celebrate Monday with the news that they would no longer be forced to use the hated oversized “baking tray” number plates.
Daily Bild reported that Transport Minister Peter Ramsauer planned to change the law to allow motorcyclists to display smaller US-style plates. These plates are a relatively modest 18 cm by 20 cm.
The size of the loathed larger plates has been a long-running issue for motorbiking enthusiasts.
Ramsauer is planning a change to the rules by the spring, in time for the start of motorbike season.
