Boy, 12, attacks mother with knife over truancy row
A 12-year-old boy stabbed his mother in the head and neck in Hannover because he didn’t want to go to school, police announced late Monday.
The mother, 36, suffered shallow injuries to her head and neck and was taken to hospital, a police spokesman said.
The boy attacked his mother with a kitchen knife inside their apartment after the pair fought over the boy’s truancy. He had not been to school for several days. When the mother fled, her son continued to attack her outside the apartment building. She was forced to flee to safety at the home of a neighbour, who alerted police.
Following the attack, the boy fled back into their apartment. Police were forced to break through two doors in order to arrest him. He admitted the crime and was handed over to Hannover social services, the police spokesman said.
