The mild spring temperatures of the last week won’t stick around for the weekend, the German Weather Service (DWD) reported on Friday. A low front will bring cooler temperatures and cloud cover instead.

Friday is expected to be partly cloudy with rain in Alpine regions and in the windy northeast, the DWD reported. Highs will fall between 10 degrees Celsius in the northeast and 17 degrees in the southwest.

While rain is unlikely overnight, temperatures will sink as low as freezing, bringing ground frost to some regions.

Saturday will begin gloomily, with cloud cover expected to develop into rain showers in the east by afternoon. Temperatures will reach highs of between 10 degrees in the north and along coastal regions, and 16 degrees in the Upper Rhine area.

More rain is expected in the east on Sunday, when thermometers will drop even lower to between 7 and 13 degrees. Meanwhile snow will likely fall in areas above between 600 and 800 metres in altitude.
