Russian Foreign Minister to meet German resistance veterans
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Germany next month to attend the Munich Security Conference and meet veterans of the German resistance to the Nazis, his spokesman said Friday.
During his February 5 to 7 stay, Lavrov will hold talks with his counterpart Guido Westerwelle in Berlin on developing the two countries' strategic partnership, the spokesman was quoted by Russian news agency ITAR-TASS as saying.
Lavrov will meet former members of the German resistance at the Russian embassy in Berlin, nearly 65 years after the end of World War II.
Organisers said Lavrov would also attend the annual security conference running Friday to Sunday in the southern city of Munich, which brings together senior military, diplomatic and political figures, mainly from Europe and the United States but also from Asia.
