The girl, who attended the St. Benno high school, was found around 8:30 am in a Johannstadt district apartment, a police spokesperson told the paper.

Authorities are now searching for a suspect that they believe may have been involved in the crime. Sources at her school told the paper that the suspect was the victim’s boyfriend. More information on the events leading up to the murder will be revealed in a statement on Friday, police said.

According to the paper, officials at the university-track school were informed of the student’s death on Wednesday. Students had planned to perform an Advent concert that evening, but held a prayer service for the victim instead.

Story continues below…

Ministers have been made available to counsel the students, and classes for the students in the victim’s grade were cancelled on Thursday, the paper said.

My thoughts exactly.

Why is the fact that she went to a Catholic high school relevant. Why not just high school student found murdered? I s that such a distinguishing detail?

Sounds to me like they're hoping to invoke some fetishized image of a uniform wearing slutty virgin to garner more interest.

Nail, hammer, head!!!

@ Rimini and The-ex-pat: Yes, it does sound as if they are presenting this as a crime in which the victim was a stereotyped, fetishized uniform wearing schoolgirl.

I'm more interested in hearing about how "officials at the university-track school were informed of the student¦#39;s death on Wednesday" even though "girl was found murdered in a Dresden apartment on Thursday morning".

I think the "how" is that The Local didn't do a good job editing the first sentence of this story, and meant to focus on how SZ reported this on Thursday. However, The Local is my best English source of 'local' news, so I'll probably be back anyway.

By the way, the original headline in the Saechsiche Zeitung didn't mention the girl's sectarian identity.

They are searching for a 32 year old asylum seeker from Pakistan. And she was found in the asylum building.

Yes, the catholic part is written in every paper in Germany. No, the background of the suspect isn't mentioned in most.

German Newspeak. German political correctness.

Remember, when that mohammedan woman was murdered in a court in Dresden by a German? Everybody screamed.

This is the same case, just the roles are reversed.

Watch the silence.

The intention of noting the religious background of her as Catholic would be to garner sympathy. But I dont know why it would. Most of the porn starlets of the skin trade are Catholic. The vast majority of drug addicts are Catholic. And Catholics make up a large proportion of Western prison population. There should be no sympathy. Only sympathy for Jews!!!!!
