Anyone planning a weekend outing will enjoy sunshine and springlike temperatures in the coming days as a high pressure system moves over the Alps and into central Germany, the DWD weather service reported on Friday.

The warm air will raise temperatures up to 18 degrees Celsius, but also bring patchy fog to parts of the country.

On Friday, the fog will disappear by midday in most places, followed by dry air and sunshine. Highs will span between 10 degrees in the northeast and 18 degrees in the southwest, the DWD said from its headquarters in Offenbach.

Fog will build up again overnight, but by lunchtime on Saturday it will dissipate bringing friendly weather and temperatures up to 16 degrees Celsius.

Cloud cover will begin to set in on Sunday, growing heavier throughout the day, though temperatures will remain mild. Residents along the Rhine can expect highs of up to 15 degrees Celsius. But rain is expected to set in by nightfall in some places.
