BMW heiress blackmailed for third time over sex videos
Munich police confirmed on Friday that they are investigating a third case of sexual blackmail against BMW heiress Susanne Klatten after three men tried to filch some €800,000 from the 46-year-old for a sex tape.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of demanding the large sum of money and a luxury BMW from the billionaire mother of three for a compromising video of Klatten with her former lover and blackmailer, Helg Sgarbi, Munich daily Abendzeitung reported.
Senior Public Prosecutor Anton Winkler told news agency DPA that the attempted blackmail took place on Wednesday. Klatten contacted authorities after pretending she would “play along” with the three men by paying the sum, Abendzeitung reported. She gave the men her mobile phone number, which police used to trace their calls.
Another man tried to blackmail Klatten out of €75,000 in May – just two months after her former lover Sgarbi was jailed for doing the same.
Sgarbi, also known as the “Swiss gigolo,” was sentenced to six years in prison after getting €7 million out of Klatten before she contacted authorities. He had demanded hundreds of millions to keep videos of his encounters with the married woman secret.
Klatten is the daughter of the late Herbert Quandt, the German industrialist who saved BMW from collapse in 1957 and built the Bavarian carmaker into a world auto power.
